Yanqi Lake International Conference Forum is a high-level international academic exchange platform established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, orienting towards the frontier of science and considering the development strategy of disciplines. The forum draws on the successful experience of internationally renowned academic exchanges and promotes in-depth academic exchanges in a novel conference form, which plays an important leading role in the development of science and technology and academic progress in China. The first International Forum on Yanqi Lake Conference was sponsored by The Division of Chinese Academy of Sciences and undertaken by Xiamen University and Shandong University, etc. Jiao Nianzhi, the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of Xiamen University was the initiator and chairman of the Forum. Co-chairs include Academician Zhengtang Guo of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Louis Legendre of the European Academy of Sciences, Academician Curtis Suttle of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences, and Academician Farooq Azam of the American Academy of Humanities and Sciences. Hong Wang the director general of the State Oceanic Administration, Guanhua Xu the former Minister of Science, Technology, Arico Salvatore the Director of Marine Science of the UN Intergovernmental Ocean Commission, and the leaders of the Academic and Publishing Commission of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The forum's guest speakers are 17 internationally renowned experts from 9 countries, including the United States, Canada, The United Kingdom, Germany and France. In view of China's urgent need to deal with climate negotiations, implemeission reduction and increase foreign exchange rate and develop low-carbon economy under the background of global change, the forum selected "land and sea integration theory of carbon sink" as the theme, aimed at "marine carbon sink", and jointly discussed the latest frontier progress, future development direction and correlation of marine carbon sink.
