On October 20, 2021, the 9th Shanghai Academician Expert Summit with the theme of "Towards Carbon Neutral Era" opened. More than 20 academicians and experts jointly discussed the opportunities and challenges brought by the dual carbon goal for Shanghai's urban and industrial development. Professor Jiao Nianzhi attend and deliver a keynote speech on “Developing Marine carbon sinks and Implementing Carbon Neutrality strategies”. The report points out that the scale of mariculture in China ranks first in the world, providing a site for marine negative emission. The comprehensive negative emission of the breeding area and changing the "polluted area" into a "sink increasing field" can not only increase the carbon sink, but also repair the environment, which can form a Chinese scheme for sustainable development.
