Research and development strategies for ocean negative carbon emissions

Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) consulting project, 2021-2022, Leading PI: Nianzhi Jiao

The project will face the two major needs of China's emission reduction and development, focus on the problem of negative CO2 emission generally concerned by the international scientific and technological community, and launch the "ocean negative carbon emissions (once)" international large science plan based on the applicant's original theoretical framework of "micro biological carbon pump (MCP)", so as to gather talents and intelligence at home and abroad To sort out the current situation of carbon sequestration areas, research and development potential of carbon sequestration areas, as well as the integration of multi-disciplinary research and technology, and to realize the major breakthrough of carbon sequestration areas, carbon sequestration areas and carbon sequestration technologies in China; Committed to the sustainable development of China's offshore marine ecosystem and coastal society, and forming an international model representing the sea area; Promote the establishment of a series of theoretical and technical systems with offshore aquaculture carbon sink as the main line; Put forward the technology and engineering application of ecological collaborative exchange increase based on the integration of science and engineering; Promote the establishment of engineering technology demonstration for artificial increase of foreign exchange in offshore aquaculture areas; One belt, one road, China will be promoted to promote the coordinated development of aquaculture industry, increase the exchange rate and the ecological environment. It will provide a "marine carbon sink China plan" for global marine governance, promote the implementation of the "one belt initiative" and lead the international development trend, and provide strong support for enhancing China's international discourse and influence.
